On September 24, 2014, DHL Express, the world's leading international express service provider, announced a general average rate increase worldwide, effective January 1, 2015. In Vietnam, the average rate adjustment was set at approximately 4.9%.
"DHL Express is committed to delivering the best possible value to its customers, and the annual rate adjustment is one of the factors that enables us to maintain service excellence and long-term competitiveness," said Ken Allen, Chief Executive Officer of DHL Express. "Each year, we invest approximately EUR 500 million to build and maintain a world-class express delivery network. Major investments in 2014 included new facilities in Japan, the Middle East, and North Africa, infrastructure upgrades in the United Kingdom, and the addition of new flight routes across multiple continents, all of which further strengthened the DHL network. More importantly, we continue to invest in employee development through our Certified International Specialist (CIS) program, which aims to reinforce DHL's customer-centric culture. These initiatives are designed to help our customers connect with international business partners and achieve sustainable growth."
DHL Express reviews and adjusts its pricing annually by taking into account inflation rates and other cost factors in each of the more than 220 countries and territories in which the company operates. The level of adjustment varies among countries according to local market conditions and applies to all customers under contractual agreements.
