With the introduction of the Boeing 777 Freighter (777F) into service in Shanghai, China, FedEx is further strengthening its air cargo operations in the region. China is one of FedEx’s fastest-growing markets in the Asia-Pacific region, and Shanghai handles the largest volume of exports to the United States. This new cargo aircraft will help meet the increasing transportation demands of customers.
FedEx Express was the first U.S. international air express company to operate the 777F in its fleet and is currently the largest customer for this advanced aircraft model. FedEx Express expected to have four 777F flights operating between Asia and the United States by April 2010. By the end of the 2014 fiscal year, the company planned to operate a total of 15 Boeing 777F aircraft in its fleet.
In addition, FedEx Express was in the process of ordering 15 more 777F aircraft, scheduled for delivery between the 2014 and 2019 fiscal years, with the possibility of placing an additional order for another 15 aircraft in the future.
